The Lab was cleaner then it had been in days, the surfaces were polished and you could see yourself in the reflection. Even the walls looked cleaner, though the white paint was chipping off in certain places. The floors had clearly been washed to, and the place smelled of strong chemicals. There was only three small stations in the room, each station held supplies for testing on whatever poor subject was there. Some looked like tools a dentist would use, where others were clearly meant for doctors only. Alone and sitting on one of the cold tables was Lira, a werewolf test subject the government has been using for quite some time now. She is one of the better behaved ones, only due to her fear in everything. Her age is still unknown, but she is a small subject and easy to control.
She was stuck in this Godawful room again, and for the third time today. She had been undergoing more tests then normal, and couldn't help but worry if something was wrong. What had they done to her this time? Maybe she would just finally drop dead this time, and the tests would finally be over. Lifting her skinny arm, Lira glanced down at the multiple needle marks left in her arm. She missed one of the older scientists, she had at least put small circle ban aid on them. The lady had been much kinder then the rest, but for some reason she hadn't seen the lady in awhile. Though she could only guess Lira suspected she was dead, either by her old age or the government. Once someone had lived out there usefulness around here, they tended to go missing.
As Lira was thinking, she hadn't noticed one of the normal scientists walk in, though her nose picked up the smell of perfume a few seconds later. The woman was dressed in white with black pants, her hair was pinned up and she wore no makeup. Pretending to ignoring the woman as she moved over to her work desk, Lira began to watch her out of the corner of her eye. Picking up how relaxed the woman was made Lira more calm, though there was something else. The woman seemed excited or happy about something, this made Lira a little nervous but made sure to seem relaxed still. As the woman stood up Lira jumped as the chair scratched against the floor, it sounded like nails scratching down a chalk board. Lira manged to remain clam, but couldn't help but let out a slight growl.

The outside world was drowned out. Darkness and the loud vibrations coming from an electric guitar from a musician from long before this time. Sol's lips moved to lyrics silently. This was his favorite way to drown out the stress of this life in the hands of the government. There was a sudden pounding on his cell door. Wait, his 'rooms' door. He turned off his MP3 player, and pushed himself up to a sitting position on the ground, pulling the headphones out of his ears.
"Number 0192, please go to the back of your room and put your hands against the wall. I repeat: Go to the back of your room and put your hands against the wall." a stern faced man in a white lab coat and piercing green eyes ordered. He was a tough one. A man who took no shit from no test subject or even his coworkers. Sol gave a soft growl, but complied, leaving his music player on his bed before going to the wall and pressing his hands against it. The scent of two others joined the room and he was patted down. They couldn't risk him pulling a weapon. "Come quietly 0192, and don't look so worried. We're going to try something new today. Your psychotherapist said it might help you feel at ease." the stern faced man said as Sol was marched out of the room and towards the labs. He just grunted in response. What were they trying to pull this time?
The scientist pushed Sol into the Lab after the door opened. The werewolf gave a soft growl but didn't resist against the force. His steel eyes quickly scanned the room, though were halted suddenly as he spotted the other scientist and the female werewolf he straightened up, a suspicious look on his face as the other Doctor passed.
Sol watched the female werewolf across from him. She looked thin, but, then again, he wasn't exactly a healthy weight himself. She had a few little scars from needles, similar to some he had on patches of his skin and yet she smelt a little of fear, or nervousness. She had pretty, but sad looking eyes. No doubt a side effect from living in this place. "What's the meaning of this?" he asked his head whipping towards the lab coats. The male doctor gave a snort. "It's just a little socializing test." he said, picking up a clipboard and scribbling something on it. "You might try be a bit more polite in a ladies presence."

Her nails were the color of red lipstick, or the color of fresh blood seeping from her prey. The long skinny fingers that were attached to the nails felt ice cold to Lira's skin and held on to tight, as the needle moved into her skin she let out a small whine. She had never liked needles in all her life, she had been told that some children use to get stickers after a needle. Even then she would not like needles, they would have to give her a whole gift basket for her to like them. Finally when the needle was out of sight she glanced down, a small thing red dot stared back at her. Another dot to add to the plenty she had on her arms already, soon they would have to move to her legs again. They tended to do that every few months or so, switch from her arms to her legs to get fresh blood or something.
Making sure not to get any on her on her clean clothes, especially her somewhat new green tank top, Lira glanced around for a gauze. The lady in front of her let our a sigh before passing her one, like she had to pay for them or something. The people around here could use a lesson in manners, the least they could do was hold back there true feelings. Rolling her eye's Lira wiped the blood, tossing the gauze onto the floor for the lady to pick up. The door opened a few moments later, followed by two people entering the room. The one in white worked in the building like the lady, but the other was like her. A test subject. Normally they wouldn't bring another subject in the same room as her, unless they wanted something out of it like information. Lira had been successful at helping them get bits of information before, though she didn't want to. But none of them had been male or a werewolf for that matter, this was not what Lira would call fun at all.
She took a look at him noting he wasn't bad looking, though his hair was something she had never seen before. Quite amusing. He himself didn't seem to know what was going on, and as he turned back to look at her Lira held his gaze. So much could be said without even speaking, though the humans would not know that. She had been told by her mother once, a wolf could speak to another without words. Though she was sure they had to be in wolf form, so her plan was not going to work yet. Realizing she was staring Lira glanced away, she had never met another werewolf besides her parents before. The female scientist made her way over to the new comers, whispering in the mans ear she moved back over to her desk. She fussed over a few papers before gathering what she wanted, something that looked like a pad of paper and pen were produced. "I need a sample of his blood first, did you bring any?" Lira watched as the woman showed them to another silver table, like the one she sat on.

As the female held his gaze, Sol gave a slight nod of his head as a form of greeting. She seemed to stare just a little oddly at his hair style, making him tilt his head. Did it look so bad? Whatever this new experiment was, she seemed just as in the dark about it as he was. It had just been said this was a social experiment. Had that ever happened before? Letting test subjects mix like this? Maybe they'd be allowed shift into their wolf forms. Then they could talk privately between themselves and suss out what was going on here. With these thoughts distracting him, Sol never noticed the two humans huddling together as the female whispered and the male smirked and gave a nod.
"I knew there was something else I had to bring." the man sighed with irritation. He picked up a syringe and hollow needle, preparing it while the subjects were busy analyzing one another. "0192. I'm about to take a blood sample. Put your arm forward." As Sol looked at him, the needle and syringe were looked at with immense hatred, a low rumble rumbling from the back of his throat. However, since it didn't have any liquid in it, Sol slowly let his arm out, and allowed the blood to be taken. He rubbed the spot when the needle was withdrawn. The scientist handed over the syringe with the werewolf's blood in it. "Here you are my dear, this should be more than enough."
Sol clenched his fists at the tone being used. They were doing tests on creatures that really were not so different to them. They could at least be emotionless rather than have this eerie delight when talking around their work."You look worried 0192. Unusual from that serious frown that you often wear. Is there a problem? Is there something wrong with this Subject?" the man asked, again writing rapidly on the clipboard. Sol looked towards the female and shook his head. "No. Nothings wrong. She seems nice." he answered curtly before falling back into silence. Nothing was wrong with the female. It was this...atmosphere that was wrong. Hell, this entire government territory and its ways were wrong.

She made sure to look any were but over at them, her patience was running thin, which never really happened. But maybe she could make there job more difficult, it was always amusing to see them fail. There faces fill up with worry at what there boss would say or do, some came back but others she never saw again. Her ears picked up voices talking about her, like she wasn't even a real person. To the lab coats she was just another animal to test and poke at, she had learn about animal testing before the apocalypse. Poor animals. She would be the one to break in and save them all, and probably get caught in the process. With a slight glance Lira caught a peak of the other werewolf, before looking away again.
The woman in the lab coat moved over to a mini fridge, opening the small white door she placed the blood inside and closed it once again. She wanted to get this research going, to see how the werewolves would interact with one another. Hopefully they would learn more behavioral patterns with the two werewolves, and it was perfect that they were the opposite sex. It had taken her months to start this project, and finally it would start today. " #0192 please sit on one of the lab tables for me." She needed to check his blood pressure, then they would leave the room. Watching behind the one way mirror will be the perfect way to watch them, and hopefully Lira would get him to talk some.

Sol looked the female human up and down for a moment before heading towards the table and sitting up on it. He didn't resist as she took his blood pressure, which would read an average 110/65. Then, both humans left the room. Sol furrowed his brow, wondering what they could possibly be gaining from such an experiment. Usually it was to test effects of various Wolfs Bane dosages or the effects of silver or reaction to fire or other nasty tortures. Then came the shrinks, who tried to assure him that everything was ok, and tried to get him to talk to them. Being held captive and experimented on wasn't good grounds to getting someones trust.
His eyes flicked from the mirror to the female werewolf. He silently wondered what to say to her. Nothing to major. He was sure that they were being watched, or at the very least recorded. Had she been subjected to as many terrible things as he had? On a hunch, he called a yes. What did they put her through on a regular basis? How long was she here? Was she content to stay here, and given up on hopes of escape? There were too many questions to ask. And none that could be asked so openly in this place.
"My name is Sol." his gravely voice broke the silence. He broke his gaze, looking down at his black ragged tank top, brushing off some imaginary dirt from it as he wondered if he should say anything more to her. "Your..." he strained to think of something interesting to say. "Hair is nice."

From the moment the Lab coats left the room Lira was more aware of her surroundings, just in case things didn't go well between her and the other werewolf. She glanced over at the mirror, which was in every lab room, most likely a one way window. Cleaver little humans. Tearing her eyes away from the mirror and glancing at the other werewolf, Lira forgot about the mirror. This was her chance to meet another like herself, she had to many questions and hoped she wouldn't scare him off. His voice caught her off guard for a moment, but she noted his name was Sol. He must have been unsure what to say, because there was nothing interesting with her hair. His on the other hand seemed like a piece of art almost, though she would never say it out loud. With a slight nudge forward she landed lightly on the ground, where she continued to watch him. Her emotions were a jumbled mess confusing for one, wondering why they would leave them alone. But she always had a slight nervousness about her, which she knew he picked up on.
With a soft voice, almost to soft to hear, Lira picked up some courage to speak to Sol. "It's nice to meet you, you can call me Lira." Her eye's flicked over to the mirror for a moment, they were no doubt hanging on to every word they said. Looking back over to Sol, Lira wondered what to say or do. Moving a few feet closer so that they only had a small desk in between them, Lira leaned forward and whispered so only they would hear. "It's not safe to speak here, no where is safe in here." Leaning back once more she heard some type of speaker turn on, static before a woman's voice could be heard. "Please speak louder then that Lira, remember this is a good time to get over your shyness." The static went away, and the speaker turned off. Lira let out a soft frustrated growl, the woman could have left out the last part.

Sol watched as the female looked over at the mirror. She seemed at least intelligent enough to realize that the humans in lab coats were watching them. Someone more naive would have possibly moved quickly at the chance of being alone, especially if it seemed another in their situation was there and could help. A small half smile twitched onto his face. Wherever they had gotten this one from, they hadn't broken her yet. At least, not completely. He sat up straight as she slid off her seat on her desk. Her eyes held curiosity in them, alongside wariness. She had just as much questions to ask him, as he did her.
"Lira." he repeated a tad robotically. Her voice was soft, and while it was no problem to hear what was said thanks to his heightened senses, he was surprised at how quiet her tone was. "It's good to see meet too." She stood behind a desk as he rose from his seat, his feet hitting the floor with a soft 'thud' under his boots. Again, another cautious but clever move by the female. Keeping her distance, and her eyes on the mirror. His jaw locked a little at her words and gave a nod of understanding. Then the loud static of the intercom made him look towards the mirror. The pushy female scientist spoke. "I would have said you have your wits about you." he muttered to Lira.
He leaned towards her and mumbled to her. "While we're here, we may as well talk. Lets have a private discussion hmm?" he said before taking a step back. He closed his eyes and shifted into a black brute, his thick coarse fur matted in places and shaved off in others. His steel eyes watched her. You can do this right? They havn't injected you with anything? he spoke to her with his mind, wondering if something had been done or not to cause any problems with the useful traits of werewolves.

His movements were slow and relaxed, making Lira relax as well. She let her nervousness slip away, replaced mostly by curiosity and plenty of questions. As Sol leaned closer to whisper something back to her, she turned an ear towards him. She agreed with a nod of her head, it would be the only way to talk in private. Anything else the humans could hear would be written down, and most likely word for word. Watching him shift into his wolf form, his skin turning to black fur, mixed with a few shaved spots. Unsure if they would let them stay in this form, Lira gave a hesitant look at the mirror before shifting. Her change came easily to her with little to no pain, her skin slowly changing into a sparkling white coat. Her fur also had a few bald spots spread out on it, making Lira feel like an ugly mole rat. She had seen pictures of them in her books, ugly little things they were.
Her ears stood up strait mostly, except when any sudden movements were made. Her grey-blue eyes watched him as she moved closer, her steps were cautious, but her curiosity gave in. "It's finally nice to meet another like me, it's been so long and now I have the chance to speak freely." Her movements slowed until she stopped an arms length away, her tail curling around her front paws as she sat down. His scent swallowed her, and she welcomed the change. The smell of chemicals lay on every surface in the building, and it made her want to hurl. This was more pleasant."So I'm glad this little talking trick worked out, I've never had the chance to test it before." Taking a look around the room, she wondered how long it would take for the humans to interfere.

Sol's ears twitched and he tilted his head in curiosity as Lira transformed into her wolf form. Her white fur had patches shaved off, similar to his. Obviously the result of making things easier for the testers instruments. He was surprised that she sat close to him, but welcomed her scent over that of those sterilizer chemicals that this entire place seemed to be laced with. It was bad enough to his dulled down sense. By curling her tail around the front of her paws as she sat down, Sol linked it to something similar as crossing ones arms or standing behind something when talking to someone else. A body language sign for a small defensive wall.
His eyes seemed to light up with amusement as she spoke eagerly to him. "It is nice." he agreed. Something about his tone annoyed him. He was too used to the curt, clinical replies that were used when talking with the humans here. " I don't think I can remember the last time I got to speak to someone in a... 'calming' environment who wasn't a shrink." he said, glancing towards the mirror every now and again. No buzz of the intercom yet. It made him almost want to bombard this female, Lira, with questions before they were interrupted.
His head dipped little as he agreed with her. "No kidding. It's been ages since I've spoken this way. At least this is a safe way to talk." He had to do a retake. Had he heard her right? She never spoke this way before. "Never? As in never ever?" he stared at her, his eyes squinted in disbelief. "Were you born in this hell hole? How long have you been in here?"

There was so much she wanted to know and ask him, but she had to wait and be patient. They still had some time before the humans came, they would want them to do something not just sit there. Perhaps Lira could do something about that, get them some more time to talk in peace. Ignoring the thought for now, Lira paid attention to what Sol was saying, and was glad he seemed to have just as much questions as she did. She guessed he had been kept alone like her, though she had Amber to talk to at least. Did he undergo the same tests as her? Or where his tests different then hers? She would never know unless she asked, but was unsure how Sol would take the question. All she needed was an upset wolf wanting to beat the shit out of her, while all she could do was try to last long enough for the humans to help her. If they could.
"Well... I would have used it if I had the chance, but my parents passed before teaching me. I never even knew it worked until now, which will come in handy." Her voice stayed clam, and her edginess was now gone. Being able to relax was a nice change, almost peaceful for once. Tilting her head to the side, she tried to think of what to say. " I've almost been here my whole life, kinda pathetic if you think of it. My parents worked here, so I was left alone a lot in the same room I'm in now. Though I was only a test subject after they passed away, or they would have never agreed to work here. " She hated talking about her parents, it made her upset most of the time. But it was good to tell someone, not like anyone else would ever listen to her. " But it's your turn to answer a question.. if you don't mind." She hesitated for a moment, not sure if she should ask him. "So what does the outside look like?"

"I'm sorry for your loss." Sol said respectfully, an understanding tone in his voice. His own parents had lost their lives, and not that long ago. Her parents had worked here? Now that was surprising. He was tempted to ask her what was there job. Did they preform the experiments? Did they enjoy it? Or were they just doing it so their pup would be safe? Sol half considered on asking more about her parents but reconsidered on hearing a sad undertone in her voice. He moved his matted black tail to touch off of hers as a touch of comfort as she spoke. "Humans." he huffed in a rough voice. "They can't be trusted to have honor or keep their word." he mumbled.
"Not at all. Ask whatever you want." Sol didn't have a problem with answering any questions Lira had. Quid pro quo, as it were. He was surprised by her question, expecting something on experiments or how he came to come here. He gave a soft snort. "I havn't been there in two years, but i doubt things have changed all that radically." he started slowly. "The surface is... quite a sight to say the least. A lot of the buildings were totaled. There's plenty of ruins to explore. However, you see a lot of action underground too. Down in the tunnels. It's quite dark, and dangerous. Well, theres a chance of danger everywhere... but, you can meet others. You can do what you want. There's no walls out there. I'm going to get back out again. I have to. You should consider it too." Static buzzed in the room and the male Doctors voice cut in. "Sol, that's enough of that form for today. I would prefer for you both to interact in human form." Sol gave an irritated growl, looking directly at the mirror, his fangs baring just slightly.

She was glad for his respect, and felt that he had lost people in his life also. But didn't they all? "Thanks. They might have worked for the wrong people, but they were still good and would have never agreed to any of this." She lowered her head for a moment, remembering her parents. Pushing the thought behind her, Lira paid attention to Sol. Listening to what it was like outside, Lira hoped she would one day see it. Even if it scared her a bit. She would like to see the ruined city, and the groups that were surviving out there. What would it be like? To not have food given to you every day, or have a room full of the stuff she had. She stopped a whine from escaping her throat, it would help no one. Static could be heard as a mans voice came through the speaker, followed by a growl from Sol.
Watching through the mirror made sure that they were all safe, the subjects in the next room were not to be trusted. She knew all to well what they were capable of, she had watched a werewolf tear a man apart with little effort. Turning her attention back to the two werewolves in the next room, she hoped progress would be made. They were now communicating while in wolf form, but how could it be possible. Checking the sound coming from the room, the woman scientist picked up nothing. With a quick look at the man beside her, she turned the speaker on. "Please do not make us force you, if you turn now we can all continue on with our day." The static stopped as she let go of the button, and watched Lira glance toward them. The she wolf was giving signs of worry, her ears were back and she was now standing. Her tail hung down and unmoving, she had been through this before.

Sol though on her words. Folks working for bad people, while being good themselves. Maybe Lira was only saying that because they were her parents and, no one wanted their family to be the bad guy. There didn't seem to be any trace of doubt in her though. Besides, she was a sweet girl. She common sense didn't seem effect by the fact that her parents worked her. She still recognized what was being done was just wrong. He tilted his head at as he noted the hopeful look in her eyes as he spoke of the outside world. "I will get out of here soon. I'm not sure exactly when... But when i do, you could come with me. At least until you find your own niche out there." he offered with a smile.
Their conversation was being cut short way too fast. He glared towards the mirror, his muscles tensing, his ears pointing straight as the scientists spoke to them. He gave another low growl and reluctant changed back. "I thought this was a social experiment." he said looking towards the mirror. The male scientist could be heard making a noise that was a cross of a cough and a laugh. "An experiment isn't all that good if we can't gather useful information. Tell us, what we're you talking about?" Sol crossed his arms and closed his eyes. "The finer techniques of burying a squeaky toy."

Sol's words made her feel like there was hope for the future, like there was a chance to get out of this little Hell hole. To be rid of the tests and small rooms they were kept in, to never again feel so helpless and alone. The over powering smell of cleaner would be gone and the boring food, she would finally make her own choices for once. All of this felt a little overwhelming, but Lira would not back down if the chance came. She would be ready when the time came to break out of here, and those in her path would just need to be eliminated.
"If the time came and I was given the choice to leave I would, but I don't see it happening any time soon. Just look around. They have this place sealed up, and guards at every exit." She had once been aloud to roam the halls freely, her parents had even given her a tour once. The memory of it was a little distant, but she could remember most of the important parts. Like the exits. "But maybe... if we could get help some how, from the outside would be best. Or I could manage to borrow the guards keys, but it won't be easy." The last time she had gotten a hold of a set of keys the guards went straight to her, she was shown footage of herself taking the keys. As punishment for a week she had to stay in a metal cage. Like some beast.
The static of the microphone could be hear around them, then a male voice could be heard. She wanted to have more time to talk in private, but the humans would hear nothing of it. Shifting back into her human form, Lira once again felt weaker and a little nervous. Taking a few steps away from Sol she shot a look at the mirror, they wanted information about them. So maybe she should give them some information, of course it would be a load of bull. "What do you expect us to talk about? The weather? O wait we can't see outside, so that's out of the question." She kept her face blank of emotion, something humans had a hard time with. No wonder there was little of there race left these days, the other races will over power them soon enough.
