Today was the day she had been waiting for, it would soon become real and not a future plan. It was going to happen whether she liked it or not, though Ally liked to keep an open mind about it. True she had volunteered for the job, but she had never expected it to come so soon. Remembering back to the time her parents were alive, they had told her to wait, that she would soon go on outings like them. But then her mother came back dead, and her father was never seen again. Ally knew the government was hiding something from them, her pack wasn't as dumb as they thought. Her pack would now do something about the deaths they had lost, not only her parents but other pack members. Ally was told Caleb himself was looking for her, most likely to brief her on the mission. But Ally couldn't help but feel nervous, she would be near the government, what if she went missing like her father? Or came back dead like her mother?
Taking in a deep breath Ally told herself to relax, she needed a clear head for this. If she showed any sigh of being nervous Caleb would know. He could take her off the mission and replace her, but she was confident she was able to pull this off. She herself had worked for the government before, but had never met face to face with so many of them. This time she would most likely meet the higher ups, this was what Ally was nervous about. People of authority that could decide to kill her, or let her live made her nervous. Ignoring her thoughts for a moment so she could pack, Ally went over her list again. She had packed only the bare minimum, she would have to travel with what she had. Not wanting it to heavy Ally would only have the cloths on her back, along with food, water and some medical supplies.

As much as Caleb liked to maintain the peace, he knew that sometimes you had to show that you weren’t afraid to fight back. Members of the pack continued to go missing or were found dead by the government and their inhumane tests. He didn’t know what they were doing, but he knew a reconnaissance mission was in order to find out. While he’d originally wanted to go alone, it was insisted that he take a handful with him in case got a bit hairy.
Out of all the volunteers one of them had stood out. A young girl by the name of Ally. He could smell the fear and nervousness which contradicted the look of confidence on her face and he wasn’t entirely sure what to make of it. In his mind the girl seemed to be just a pup, too young to risk her life on a mission based around simply gathering Intel. Imagine his surprise to find that not only was she not a pup, but she’d somehow risen to the rank of scout.
Still he had concern for her. Apparently her parents were both deceased and Caleb wasn’t entirely sure if she could be stealthy enough on this mission or if she’d be a loose canon, blowing their cover. He needed to keep an eye on her which is why he’d requested to see her.
However it’d taken her a bit longer than his liking to show up and, in such, he went to find her. He found her location, freely letting himself in out of habit more so than anything else, and stood at the doorway with his arms crossed as he watch her pack. He made sure to take inventory of her belongings.
“See, now already you’ve got yourself in trouble,” he told her, rubbing his nose from an itch with the back of his hand. As he approached her, he walked to her bag and held it up. “See this?” he asked. “Dead weight. All of it. What you need to do is learn how to use your instincts to live off the land. Lugging this around will just make you tired and slow you down.”
He open the back and looked through it, taking each thing out and giving a reason why it was unnecessary. “Food. We can hunt. Rats might not sound like a delicacy to you, but you learn to love them. And they’re abundant. Down in the sewers, up on the land…you’ll be able to find one.” He took out the water and sat it aside. “First aid. It’s useful, but learn your plants and herbs. Learn how to use the resources around you. Need gauze? You don’t need jeans that long. Need a splint? Use part of a pipe or a log.” He continued on like this until the bag was empty and he tossed it back on the bed.
“And you made it up to the scouts without this basic knowledge, huh?” he asked with a chuckle. The amusement was clear on his face as he shook his head. “Come on, pup,” he teased, motioning her to follow him with his a nod of his head. “We’ll teach you how to survive out there in the wild during this mission.”

Going over the list a second time made Ally feel better, she made sure everything was where it should be. Combing her fingers through her hair, which was left lose behind her, Ally let out a sigh. True she didn't pack much, but what she had could be useful. Crumbling the list up she tossed it into her black trash can. Finally she was done, packing was not one of the things she would like to do. As Caleb made himself known behind her, Ally turned and bowed her head in acknowledgement and respect for her Alpha. She knew he was older then herself and much wiser, so when he pointed out she had packed the wrong things, she listened to what he had to say. True food could be found anywhere, and there wolf inside them didn't care to much on taste. But water would be harder to find, but it had been raining for a few days leaving behind puddles to drink from.
Smiling, Ally shrugged. "I'm sorry, I wasn't told much detail on anything. I wasn't sure on what to bring and what not to bring, but thanks for the help." He had been pack leader for years now, her parents spoke of him, when they were alive. They had trusted him, and in return she did the same. But the last part, the part about surviving was a little to much. She didn't think the training would save her to much, her parents trained in the same way. But it didn't help them to much, not against the government. Even the pack couldn't and wouldn't do much to help them, they were as good as dead when they went missing. She pushed her anger away, letting her wolf sooth her once again. Following a couple steps behind Caleb, Ally pulled her thoughts together.

When they arrived the briefing had already started. Luckily he already knew what the mission entailed, but he gave Ally a disapproving look at being late before taking a seat at the table. Once the plan was described, basically to stealthily infiltrate the Taberah territory, the discussions began. As always there was one person opposed, always wanting to challenge his authority and take action. These were the people that often got the others killed.
“We need to be attacking the government,” one of them was saying. “If we attack them-”
“No,” Caleb responded calmly. “We’re not going to run in blindly. That's what gets us killed. We're only gathering information.”
“No, what gets us killed is sitting around doing nothing while they capture and kill members of our pack. Forget this gathering information bullshit. We need to plan an offensive attack. What kind of leader are you? We need-”
Getting up from his chair, Caleb walked over to the man and picked him up, shoving him against the wall. “And remember what happened with the last group?” he asked in a low guttural growl. “They disobeyed my orders. They tried to take on the Taberah instead of keeping quiet and got themselves killed or captured. I’ve had enough losing our people because of other's recklessness. We have no idea what they’re planning and it’s because of this we need to scout the area and gather information. Not rush in and attack!”
He lowered the man to the ground before turning his attention back to the rest of the volunteers. “And if any of you can’t handle that then get on out of here. I don’t need anyone going off on a killing spree and getting the rest of us killed or captured while we’re on this mission. We’re to keep a low profile. We’re not to draw attention to ourselves. We’re to gather information on what they’re doing and get out. Anyone who strays from the plan is on their own. Got that? I ain’t risking the lives of the many to save the few.”
Leaning forward on the table, Caleb looked at each person there. "Well?" he asked in frustration, tired of having to constantly defend his position as Alpha. These people trying to upsurge him were the ones messing everything up and getting everyone killed--the people who blatantly disrespected him and thought they knew everything. "Everyone understand?"

Walking toward the Jabari pack meeting room, Ally could hear some familiar voices inside the room. The meeting had already started of course and she was late, meaning Caleb wouldn't be to happy with her. Sure enough he shot her a look before taking his seat at the table. Unsure what to do Ally stood by the wall, with her stood a handful of scouts and hunters from the pack. So they were permitted to watch the meeting, this didn't happen to often. Glancing around the table Ally noted that the pack beta was here. The she wolf had been with the pack all her life, and had done her share and more for the pack already.
The others at the table had now started arguing, and it seemed to be getting worse. Attacking the government without information would be suicide for sure, without the proper information on the enemy they would never make it out alive. The proper way would be to infiltrate them and gather information slowly, then when the time was right maybe attack.
Ally glanced toward Caleb unsure what he would say, or do on that matter. Not expecting the next event, Ally watched the Alpha throw a pack member against the wall. True he deserved it, talking to an Alpha like that could get you killed sometimes. Watching as Caleb leaned over the table, he was making sure they under stood who was boss around here. Most of the pack whispered some type of acknowledgement, some also tilted there head in respect. Ally herself dipped her head but did not say anything, she just wanted out of this room. Though a few at the table started giving some polite ideas on the situation on hand, and things started to quite down some.

Since no one seemed to argue with him, Caleb calmed down slightly, rubbing his head with his hands. This was going to be a frustrating mission. He could already tell. These people…none of them seemed to know what they were doing. What should have been something simple and easy everyone had to go and complicate.
He wasn’t interested in hearing anyone else’s ideas. By this point, he was willing to accept the responsibility of any lost members of the pack if they followed through with his plan without qualm. “I don’t want to hear it,” he said, shushing the rest of the members. “We head out tomorrow. Meet at the edge of the territory at dawn. Anyone who’s not there will be left behind. No excuse. This is an in and out mission. Stop making it so damn complicated. You’re all dismissed,” he told them.
Caleb ignored the rest of the group as he walked out of the room.

As he made his way to the conference room, Nikolai could not help but notice Jabari's liveliness today. Looking to his left, he saw that the pups were running about in the hallways, minding their own business and making sure they weren't the ones to lose whatever game it was that they were playing. Peering over his shoulder, there were a few omegas that crowded the kitchen waiting for their lunch to be made. To his right, he caught sight of a few of the female wolves in the sitting room. Thankfully for him, he was able to pass them by before any of them bombarded him with questions. Questions, of course, that dealt with his lack of a mate.
He gave off a hefty sigh as he continued, walking towards the room, until he was within the reach of it's cool steel doorknob. Taking it in his hand, he gently twisted it and took in the sight of the other wolves that had been summoned up. There was their beta wolf, Bobbie, and of course she would be there. She became a leveling hand whenever Jabari was concerned. Kohona appeared to be there as well, even though Catori was not. In any case, this made sense. Kohona was a scout which meant that he, along with all the other scouts that currently filled the room, were better trained for this kind of infiltration.
Walking over to his seat, that was mysteriously next to Kohona's, at the rather large conference table, Nikolai waited for the meeting to begin. He knew the specifics of what this mission entitled: Taking a pack into Taberah territory, possibly even breaking through the boundaries, and gathering information on why Jabari wolves were going missing, or turning up dead.
Anyone with a right mind could conquer that it was all Taberah's doing. Even though one of the first candidates have been Nabila's residents, the cold bloods did not prefer wolf blood over that of humans. It simply did not happen that way. Their pack was on terms with Labonita, which meant they were of no threat to Jabari. As for Barin, they mainly kept to themselves.
A few minutes passed and yet there was still no sign of their alpha anywhere. He was never late, which meant something was keeping him from arriving to his own meeting. Nikolai listened into some of the conversations that were being held around the table. There was a certain wolf who insisted they attack Taberah's leaders. He could not help but let out a scoff at the idea. That plan, certainly, had to be the most foolish and ill thought out.
"They seriously called in this guy?" Kohona said obviously feeling Nikolai's same sentiments towards the man. "He's is one rocky guy, Niko." This appeared to have gained Nikolai's attention since he could not help but attempt to pry more from his long time friend. "Downright, I tell you", the blond continued. "I've been on a couple of scouts with him and he's always, and I mean always, tryin' to get himself into a fight. If he can't find another territory's person, he'll start goin' for us. His own kind!", he said in a whisper so the words could only be heard between the two of them.
Never steering his gaze from the wolf in question, Nikolai heard himself ask Kohona, "What's his name?" Throughout his years of being a scout, he had never had the male on his on team, nor chose him whenever it was Nikolai leading a team. Therefore this information was new to him.
"McIntyre. Isaac McIntyre," was all Kohona was able to get out before Caleb stepped into the room with an attitude of authority. Someone seemed to be trailing right behind him, and he could not help but wonder who it was. To his surprise, it was Ally. She evidently had to be the reason why their Alpha was late to the meeting. He could not help but let out a sigh.
Right away, Caleb laid out the plans making sure that everyone would be able to comply with everything that was being demanded from them. All wolves seemed to understand and nod their silent agreements. All, except for one of course. McIntyre brought up his earlier idea and persisted that it be the route that they take instead of laying low. It seemed as if in a matter of a second, Caleb had him pinned against the wall by his throat making it clear that they were to do as planned or else a fatality of some sort may happen, which was what they were trying to prevent all along.
After the little scene that had happened, Caleb dismissed them on an annoyed note. Nikolai and Kohona both got up from their seats, and walked right out. No questions asked.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Today was the day that their pack would get answers to some of their prolonged questions. Questions that dealt with the disappearance and deaths on a handful of their Jabari kin.
They were all to meet at the east side of their refuge a few yards into the forest. Nikolai had passed by Kohona's home earlier that morning to get him. The blond haired man had opened the door before he had even gotten the chance to raise his hand in an attempt to knock, as expected. Kohona reminded him of a dim-witted house dog sometimes, but of course, never let his friend know of this.
Before both men left to meet up at their designated place, Catori gave Nikolai a peck on the cheek and embraced him, before giving her own mate a kiss on the lips and his own embrace. Wishing them both well and telling them to both return home safely.
Arriving at the site a little early, Nikolai and Kohona waited alongside four others, three men and one woman, as they stayed put while the last of them materialized.

The morning air was crisp going through her lungs, the wind rushed between her fur as she ran into the forest. She still had an hour before the meeting, and she wanted to get a small run in before hand. Who knows what would happen to them today, some may be injured or killed. But it was only to get information for the pack, an in and out job. Though she had her own mission at hand, she would go deeper and infiltrate them from the inside. True she may go missing for a few days, but it the end she would return to the pack with information. Slowing down to a light jog, her paws kept an even pace as she continued to think out her plan. It was simple really, joining them would be the easy part. Getting her eye's on the top secret shit that has been going on, now that would be the hard part. But all she needed was proof that they held people for testing, not just werewolves but others as well.
Still in wolf form Ally showed up at the meeting spot, though she was not the first to show up. She bowed her head as her eyes met a few higher ranked pack members, though she noticed Caleb was not here yet. This would giver her time to listen in on the pack, see what they were whispering about. Shifting out of her wolf form, Ally stretched before sitting on a good sided rock near her location. She noticed Nikolai was here, making note to stay out of his way knowing he still hadn't let that incident go. She wished there was a way to make up for this, but maybe once the mission was done she could talk to him again. Looking away she noticed the other pack members, and picked up on there chatter.

Caleb sat in his favorite chair tapping his fingers on the armrest. He had a mind to ignore the meeting place today and simply go off on his own. There was the feeling of dread building in the pit of his stomach that he didn’t like and he knew that someone on this trip was going to cause trouble for him (although he wasn’t sure who it would be).
Perhaps it was just nerves. After all he was only human and they were about to infiltrate the enemy territory. With a nod of his head that’s what he attributed it to. He stood up and walked over to the cabinet taking down a bottle of alcohol and taking a swig to loosen up his nerves. “Damn pups,” he muttered under his breath. “They’ll be the death of me.”
Putting the bottle back down on the counter he rubbed the back of his head with his hand before giving himself a little shake and walking out of the house.
He arrived at the meeting place right on time. Placing his hands on his hips he looked at the crew that had arrived. There were quite a few people missing he noticed, but he’d said in the meeting yesterday that he wasn’t going to wait for them and he’d meant it. He wasn’t going to take someone along on this mission who couldn’t handle something as basic as listening to instructions.
“All right you lot,” he said before transforming into his wolf form. With a motion of his head he directed the others to follow him out.

The air was fresh as it gently waved over his thick arms and weaved through his dark hair. The sky was beginning to lighten up, although it was still clouded with a musky grey color. It was perfect weather to be out and collecting intel. The wind would carry even the faintest of scents that their pack would be able to easily recognize as friendly or a threat. The patches of fog helped them become nearly invisible as they swiftly explored Taberah's territory. All the while the earth beneath their feet gained a softness to it that would help keep their pack in a stealth-like silence.
Nikolai had noticed when two more wolves appeared. One, being another light brown colored male that had accompanied him on previous expeditions before along with his unit, and the other being a younger female wolf that he immediately recognized as Ally. Feeling his gaze drop some, until it met the muddy ground, he let out a sigh; which he knew meant that he was glad that she had at least arrived on time today. He went back to minding his own business when he saw her settle herself down at a distant rock.
"Seems like our good friend McIntyre won't be here de causer des ennuis," Kahona had said getting Nikolai's attention back to the current situation that was at hand.
From the little that Nikolai could recall, ennuis meant trouble. "Seems like it", he replied exercising his voice some as he looked around and saw that the rebellious wolf had not made it, or was at least not there yet. To Nikolai, his lack of presence was a silent plead. Only a few more moments had passed when their alpha arrived and promptly gave them the authorization to go on with their plan.
As soon as Caleb had converted himself into his wolf form, the rest did the same. Nikolai could feel the slight pain that took over his body as he changed into his dark furred wolf form, but with every passing year, it began to subside into a more tolerable discomfort than that of his beginning years. He remembered the agonizing torture that the transfiguring brought to his body. The throbbing had come in wave after wave as his body got used to this side of him, his carnal and primitive side that is. Thankfully, he was well passed that ache.
Looking around with his notable icy gray eyes, he saw that his blond haired cajun friend, as well as the rest of the unit, were ready to move out.

About an hour later, once Ally started to get bored, more members of the pack showed up. Most likely the few that probably had a hard time making up there minds, unsure if they really wanted to join on this mission. She wouldn't blame any of those who stayed behind, though if the Alpha goes they should all be willing to go. Putting the issue behind her she waited for the pack alpha to arrive, and soon enough Caleb showed up right on time. As he looked around at those who showed, she could tell he thought plenty members didn't show. But she was confident they didn't need anyone else, the members that showed would do more then there part to get the mission done.
Once the alpha signaled that they were to change and follow him, Ally shifted back into her wolf form. Her amber brown helped Ally to blend with the forest floor around her, around the she wolfs right paw a bracelet of light blue could be seen. She waited for most of the pack to start ahead before following, staying close to the back was fine with her. Keeping up a steady pace her paws kept up easily, while her eyes and ears were alert and waiting for signs of trouble. She was sure the mission was still secret and only the pack knew about it, the Taberah would have no idea they were even close to them.
The tree tops seemed to sway with the wind as it pushed it's way through, making a few leaves drop from the smaller branches. They landed on the dirt below among the other leaves, the soil was soft but had not turned to mud yet. If the clouds were vi sable from above the trees, the pack would have noticed the grey sky's that promised rain.

Of course it had to rain during their trip. If there was one thing Caleb hated it was having his fur wet while in wolf form. He stopped and shook out his fur trying to shake the water out, but the drops kept finding its way into his fur. If he could sigh then he would have, but instead it came out more of a snort as he pounded his paw onto the soft dirt before lifting it to get his fur from out of his eyes where the rain had made it fall.
He continued on the path until he reached the ground where blow them he knew the Taberah’s underground territory was. The ground was too deep to dig with metal encasing the area (not that digging had ever been part of the plan, but he couldn’t deny that it certainly would have made things much more simple had that been a possibility).
There wasn’t anyway to open the pipe while transformed and even less of a way to climb down the ladder unless he wanted people to fall in and break a leg or two. He transformed back into his human form where the rain wasn’t as disturbing hitting his skin before prying the lid off the old entrance. It was an older one that hadn’t been used for a long time which is why he’d chosen that particular one, however, removing the manhole was much more difficult as it’d been rusted shut. After much prying he finally managed to pull it off, stumbling backwards. He threw the lid beside him on the ground where it sank into the fresh mud.
“I’ll go first since we don’t know what’s down there,” he said. “Everyone keep their guard up and stay quiet.”

The soft earth was beginning to turn into a slightly watery mud as the sky grew a darker shade of grey and rain began falling from the stratus-looking clouds. Nikolai did not know whether to be glad of the fact that the rain would prove to be able to provide more cover than usual, or be frustrated that these thin long clouds promised a lot of rain fall, and at this rate, a very cold one at that.
As their Alpha drew to a stop, so did the other wolves. They worked in sync, which he could not be anymore glad about. It made missions like these that much easier to execute. Less problems in having others follow orders, signified the further added attention that could be towards making the job an impeccable one.
While the other wolves made sure to stay out of any potential sight--in other words, meaning harm--they noticed their Alpha transform back into his human form and opened a metal pipe that lay in front of him. Clearly it was a Taberah line; they were now within it's perimeters, but something in the back of Nikolai's mind was consistently vexing him that something was not right.
Not completely shrugging it out of mind, but holding it off until he'd be able to focus on both, what he was doing and what he was unconsciously thinking, efficiently, it was his turn to go through the man made hole. Of course, he had to transform back into his human form himself since he had to use an old looking ladder, the rain had proved to be colder than he originally expected. After having one shiver run down his spine, he had forced the other to stay at his shoulders unwilling to let it fall down the length of his broad back as he began climbing down the somewhat sturdy metal railing the made up a set of steps.

She watched each member of her pack turn and disappear in front of her, down the pipe line leading right into Taberah territory. The she wolf couldn't help but feel a bit of dread and fear, but keeping calm was what the pack needed right now. Not a young pup that everyone needed to watch over, she would make sure to watch over them instead. Taking a glance across the clearing to making sure there was no sign of danger, Ally darted toward the pipeline and shifted back into her human form. It was much slower then her wolf form, and weaker by a long shot, but her wolf would not be able to climb down a ladder. Leaning over and peaking inside, she could see a pack member making there way to the bottom. She could feel the packs determination floating in the air around them, but it also had a mixture of fear and caution among it. Moving forward and making her first step down the ladder, Ally prayed in silence that nothing wrong would happen to any of them.
The slow dripping of water could be heard as it connected with the floor, which was lightly covered in gravel and rat shit. Though none of the vermin could be seen, Ally smelled them close by. Skipping a few steps and jumping to the ground, Ally glanced down the tunnel toward her pack. Making sure not to get left behind, Ally picked up her pace as she watched there back. If anyone was about to come up from behind them, she would be the first to know and warn the pack. But by the looks of the tunnel, it hadn't been used in a long time. As she came up behind the member in front of her, Ally looked past him toward the front of the line. Barring there way into the Taberah territory was a normal sized door, brown in color due to rust and old age. On the other side.... the Taberah who would enslave them all if given the chance.
